Presentation Topic: Govt funding bodies - federal

ABSTRACT:

This presentation will link into the Commercial issues; funding and marketing section of the Conference.

The focus will be on the Visions of Australia funding program for touring exhibitions of cultural material. One of the most important aims of Visions of Australia has been to provide access for all Australians, no matter where they live, to high quality exhibitions of original material. Cultural and community organisations are eligible to apply to develop and tour exhibitions of historic and scientific material, visual arts and craft, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and multi media.

Significant emphasis is placed on touring to regional and remote communities, and providing wider exposure for art, craft and other cultural material from small centres, by assisting with interstate touring. (NOTE: This is essentially an information paper and could be part of a shared workshop)

BIONOTE:

David Andre is currently Senior Project Officer with Visions of Australia, the Federal Governments touring exhibitions grant program.

From 1995 to 2000 he was Curatorial Manager of the National Portrait Gallery. He has extensive collections management experience across a range of cultural institutions.

David has a Diploma of Art (Painting) and a BA (Hons) in Anthropology.
